Alice Lewis ~ Vice President
Alice Lewis is a dedicated mother and adoptive parent with a deep-rooted passion for supporting children and families. Drawing on twelve years of personal experience as a foster parent across three different states, Alice brings a unique and informed perspective to the importance of biological connections within the child welfare system. Her belief in the significance of maintaining these ties stems not only from her own journey as an adoptive parent but also from a family legacy of service. Alice's mother was a pioneering figure in community care, owning and operating group homes for medically fragile children and children with HIV in the late 1980s before transitioning to adult family homes. This early exposure instilled in Alice a profound understanding of the needs of vulnerable individuals and the power of compassionate care. Furthermore, her mother's commitment to family extended to adopting a total of six children through both formal and informal relative care, demonstrating a lifelong dedication to providing stable and loving homes. Inspired by her mother's unwavering commitment to social justice and community empowerment, Alice has actively engaged in grassroots efforts to drive meaningful change. She is a strong advocate for community building through non-profit organizations and has participated in numerous protests, marches, and direct engagement with senators to champion policies that support children and families. Alice's multifaceted experiences as a foster parent, adoptive mother, and advocate provide her with a powerful voice and a deep understanding of the complexities and opportunities within the foster care landscape.
